Program

Program

Our program offers a modern and practical approach to language learning, which ensures that course participants quickly improve their Polish skills. We conduct periodic assessments, which show participants their progress and indicate areas for improvement. Upon successful completion of the course and achieving a passing grade from the final exam, participants receive language proficiency certificates that open doors to further education in Polish, at the university level.

Students also learn about some aspects of Polish culture, such as film, history, literature, art and music. They have an opportunity to visit some places of interest in Warsaw, including The National Museum, Zachęta – National Gallery of Art, the Royal Castle, the Warsaw Uprising Museum, the Royal Łazienki Museum and Park, the Museum of King Jan III’s Palace in Wilanów, and POLIN - the Museum of the History of Polish Jews. Students will also watch and discuss some contemporary Polish films.

On the first day, students attend an opening ceremony and an integration workshop to get to know the teachers and each other better. After the ceremony, students undergo an assessment of their Polish skills, which helps us to place them in groups appropriate to their language proficiency level.

Level A1-A2

This level is addressed to beginners with no or very basic Polish skills. The aim of the program is to equip participants with elementary language skills useful in everyday life. During the course of study the participants will practice speaking, listening, reading, and writing, which will allow them to express themselves and communicate freely in Polish, in daily social situations. The program offers a modern and practical approach to language learning, which ensures that course participants quickly improve their Polish skills. We conduct periodic assessments, which show participants their progress and indicate areas for improvement.

Level B1-C1

This level is designed for students needing to improve their Polish language competencies in order to enter a degree program at SWPS University. The program focuses on equipping the participants with language and basic academic skills, necessary for successful progress through their degree program(s). Participants learn in an international environment, which gives them an additional opportunity to practice Polish skills during informal interactions with each other.

Assessment

The course starts with a written and oral assessment test, which allows us to place participants in groups appropriate to their Polish language competency. Learning at the appropriate level ensures rapid skill development and allows participants to communicate with an increasing ease and confidence.

Candidate

The courses at A1-A2 level are addressed to beginners with no or very basic Polish skills.

The B1-C1 level is directed to candidates with an intermediate (at least CEFR A2) command of Polish. The program focuses on the development of advanced language skills (to at least CEFR B2 level) and prepares the participants for entry to university programs conducted in Polish.

Next Steps

At the end of the course, students take the final test to assess their progress. Those, who do not achieve at least CEFR B2 language proficiency by the end of the program, or those who would like to further develop their Polish skills, may enroll in our Polish Language Summer School to ensure that they meet language competency requirements for their chosen university program of study.

Advantages

Multicultural Environment

Our Language Schools offer a friendly and multicultural environment, contributing to students’ development of language and interpersonal skills as well as cross-cultural competencies. Our programs attract people from all over the world, therefore, students have ample opportunities to practice Polish and English (two languages they usually have in common) not only in class, but also in daily and informal interactions with each other.

Best Foreign Language Teachers

The faculty of the Polish Preparatory School are qualified teachers of Polish as a Foreign Language. All of them have extensive experience in working with international students and they are passionate about teaching. Their goal is to accommodate the learning needs of all students and align the program of teaching with students’ competency level. Our teachers employ the most current teaching methodology, which fosters rapid development of language skills.

Study in Capital of Polan

Warsaw is the capital of Poland. It is a city steeped in history, yet it is focused on the present and looking forward to the future. Within one day, you can travel back in time by taking a stroll around the Old Town, then return to the present and go shopping at one of the modern shopping centers, and finally take the subway, running under the Vistula River, to gaze into distant galaxies at the Copernicus Science Center. During summers, the city hosts numerous events available free of charge, including concerts and music festivals, open air film screenings, and entry to many art galleries and museums.
