Our goals
The Laboratory of Affective Neuroscience conducts experimental research in the field of cognitive neuroscience and neuroscience of emotions. Using the evoked potential methodology, we analyze the activity of the brain during the completion of tasks, which engage cognitive and emotional process. Our current projects focus on the relation between regulation of emotion deficits and executive functions as well as predictors of procrastination development and technology addiction.
Reaserch equipment
The Laboratory of Affective Neuroscience conducts experimental research with the use of the latest EEG technology, which allows to measure electrical activity of the brain and helps to register additional physiological signals, such as electrical muscle activity and electrical heart activity.
The eye tracking equipment allows to follow eye movements and helps to measure eye position in the fixation points. We use E-Prime, Presentation and Inquisit to design our experiments. We analyze neurophysiological data using Matlab software.
Our equipment:
- Brain Products Electroencephalogram, including a set of 64 electrodes with two compatible caps and an actiChamp amplifier that also enables the measurement of other signals, such as muscular (EMG), heart activity (EKG), and corneo-retinal (EOG).
- Tobi X60 Eye Tracker for eye movement measurement
- BIOPACK BSL MP45 system for recording the electrical activity of the heart (Electrocardiogram)
- BIOPAC MP160 system – a flexible modular data acquisition & analysis system for life science research.
Popularization of results and education
Our team helps to organize various education events, such as the Brain Week, an annual event at SWPS University aimed at popularizing neuroscience and psychological research among children and youth. We also conduct workshops during Psychology Days.
