There is nothing wrong with setting high standards, but the standards become a problem when they are not attainable. What is perfectionism? Is it helpful or harmful in life? Is it a personality trait or a learned behavior? During a guest lecture at SWPS University, Professor Eduardo Keegan, from the University of Buenos Aires, who specializes in clinical psychology and psychotherapy, talked about various types perfectionism, the relation of perfectionism to the Big Five personality traits and to various mental disorders, such as depression, anxiety, and anorexia.

Professor Eduardo Keegan - Head of the Department of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy at the University of Buenos Aires, in Argentina. Chair of the Argentinian Association for Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies and an honorary member of the Polish Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (PTTPB). Psychotherapist and psychotherapy supervisor. He has been lecturing at PTTPB, during training sessions as well as during supervised psychotherapy sessions in Paraguay, Uruguay, Peru, Lithuania and Latvia. He specializes in therapy of borderline disorders, psychopathology, depression and anxiety disorder. In 2011, the University of Buenos Aires awarded Professor Keegan the Grandes Maestros (Great Masters) prize for his contributions to Psychology.
