The curricula and the teaching content we offer our students are driven by the latest scientific findings and current social challenges. According to the ranking of higher education institutions of the "Perspektywy" magazine, SWPS University is one of the two best universities in Poland offering studies in the field of psychology.

High external ratings

In 2016, psychology studies conducted in our Faculty were positively evaluated by the Polish Accreditation Committee which oversees the quality of education across the country. Our outstanding teaching and research staff was one of the areas that were particularly appreciated, as well as the concept of education based on the latest teaching models tested at renowned universities and numerous contacts with the local social, economic and cultural environment.

University of the Third Age

This project aims to bring persons aged 50 and more closer to issues related to psychology, to help them remain active on the labour market and adapt to changes taking place around them after they retire. Students can choose from a variety of lectures and thematic workshops, including photography with graphics, memory training, psychology of happiness, dance therapy, drawing lessons, yoga, spinal gymnastics, computer workshops and English language.

Support for students with disabilities

SWPS University offers a number of scholarships, including a special scholarship for students with disabilities. We ensure that students with special needs have access to assistants and specialized equipment. For students who find it hard to adapt to university life, we offer free psychological consultations.

Our studies prepare students to work in areas such as psychological assistance, clinical psychology, health psychology, developmental psychology, organizational and marketing psychology, market research, human resources management - and essentially in any place where psychological competence and expertise contribute to broadly understood success. High parametric evaluation of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education

As a result of the last evaluation of research institutions carried out by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education in 2017, the faculty received the highest possible category A. In the period covered by this evaluation (2014-2017), our staff published more than 140 papers, including 33 articles in journals in top category A, 45 articles in journals of category B, 44 articles in journals of category C, 14 book monographs and 4 chapters in collective monographs.

Research projects

We regularly raise funds for research through participation in competitions held by the National Science Centre (NCN), the National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) and other external institutions. Within the last 10 years we have been awarded over 20 different grants and fellowships. A significant advantage of our research efforts is also their high level of internationalization which is evidenced by grants obtained and implemented in cooperation with foreign partners, frequent visits of our staff representatives to leading universities in the world, as well as visits of prominent international scientists to our Faculty.

Psychological Research Laboratory

The Psychological Research Laboratory (formerly known as the Experimental Research Laboratory) is used by students and faculty members for their research activity. The laboratory consists of six rooms equipped with computers with specialized software, an EyeLink 1000 Plus eye tracker and a Biopac system enabling the collection of physiological data such as temperature, blood pressure and changes in the function of facial muscles. Researchers using the laboratory have at their disposal a room with a camera system designed specifically for focus group research and professional photographic equipment with studio lighting and a portrait background for taking pictures of the study subjects.

SONA research system

SONA is a platform providing access to the research currently conducted by students and faculty members of SWPS University. The system is intended to streamline the way research is carried out: the user (i.e. subject) is presented with a clear list of studies with their description, purpose and form of remuneration, as well as the possibility of booking and cancelling an appointment, while the researcher saves time which would otherwise be spent on recruiting participants - the system will do it for them. The system also allows for easy contact between the researcher and the participants.

In academic year 2016/2017, we successfully implemented and coordinated the SONA system in the Sopot campus. The system is used by numerous universities abroad (including Ivy League universities like Yale and Harvard). In the subsequent years, Sona was introduced in the Wrocław, Poznań and Warsaw campuses as well.

Centra badawcze

W sopockim kampusie funkcjonują dwa centra badawcze: Centrum Badań nad Biologicznymi Podstawami Funkcjonowania Społecznego (kierownik dr hab. Aleksandra Szymków-Sudziarska, prof. Uniwersytetu SWPS) oraz Centrum Badań nad Poznaniem i Zachowaniem (kierownik dr hab. Michał Parzuchowski, prof. Uniwersytetu SWPS). Obie jednostki działają w ramach Instytutu Psychologii Uniwersytetu SWPS.
