The Association “Community of Hearts” was founded in June 1997.The main initiator of its establishment was Mrs. Maria Popovich, at that time the mother of Lukasz - suffering from quadriplegic childhood cerebral palsy. Mrs. Maria dreamed of a place where Lukasz would have rehabilitation, care and support. With a group of parents of children with disabilities, with the support of Rev. Paul Jakimcio, she registered the “Community of Hearts” Association. And so 20 years passed.

As part of its activities, the “Community of Hearts” Association conducts the following tasks, co- financed by the Municipality of Gdansk:

• Rental of rehabilitation equipment. Project “Sitowie Estate” - Support in the empowerment of Project participants through their social and professional activation
• Self-help club for people with mental disorders.
• Residential training in supported housing for 4 people with intellectual disabilities.
• As part of its activities, the “Community of Hearts” Association conducts tasks subsidized from the funds of PFRON: Road to independence - comprehensive individual rehabilitation of children, adolescents and adults with disabilities
• Striving to increase the independence of people with disabilities through comprehensive rehabilitation.
