Chrześcijańskie Stowarzyszenie Osób Niepełnosprawnych, Ich Rodzin i Przyjaciół Ognisko
The purpose of our activities is to develop people with disabilities, to prepare them for an independent, independent, dignified life. We strive to discover and show society the values and gifts of people with disabilities. We promote the Christian vision of man, which draws its inspiration from the Gospel, respect his autonomy, care for his dignity and image. We accompany people with disabilities and their families in many spheres and at various stages of life. We are a non-profit organization and for more than 30 years we have been carrying out activities in Krakow and surrounding counties aimed at the full development of people with disabilities towards independence and subjectivity. This is both institutional assistance, day activity centers such as “Occupational Therapy Workshops” and “Community Self-help Homes”, “Support Center for People with Profound Multiple Disabilities”, as well as a number of projects providing opportunities for supported employment, assisted living, sheltered housing and other activities that lead to the improvement of the situation of people with disabilities in the family and integration into society. In its structures, the Ognisko employs about 100 employees - most of them are full-time employees with higher education in social sciences ( psychologists, occupational therapists, pedagogues, revalidation specialists, social workers, rehabilitation specialists, job coaches, etc.). We cooperate with numerous contractors, volunteers and employers of the open labor market. The Association has also established other entities for social and professional reintegration - these are the “Ognisko” Social Cooperative, which runs the Avocado Lunch Bar, and the “Ognisko” Social Enterprise, whose purpose is to create jobs for excluded people and other activities within the framework of the so-called social economy.
