Social Insurance Institution in Kraków
The Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) is a state organizational unit endowed with legal personality. It is responsible for the collection of social and health insurance contributions from citizens, as well as the disbursement of benefits in amounts and according to principles established by universally binding regulations.
Currently, the Social Insurance Institution serves approximately 26 million clients. It cooperates with numerous institutions both domestically and abroad. In terms of its scope of activity and the social significance of its tasks, it is one of the most important public institutions in Poland and one of the most modern organizations of its kind in the world.
ZUS is one of the few organizations that combines two functions essential to the state: that of a social security institution, which carries out tasks related to universal social insurance, and that of a financial institution, which manages the Social Insurance Fund, the Demographic Reserve Fund, and the Bridging Pension Fund.
