Żoliborz Community Self-Help Center
Our Community Self-Help Center (ŚDS) is a social assistance organizational unit. The Center provides services to 60 people with mental health disorders, including 30 individuals with experience of mental health crises and 30 individuals with intellectual disabilities. Both groups utilize activities in separate spaces with their own dedicated teams of professionals. The Center is open from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM; however, various activities such as trips, outings to concerts and exhibitions, outdoor events, and more may take place outside these hours and days.
In the Type A Program, there are self-help circles where participants lead activities for others: a music band, a board games club, English language classes, a bridge club, a film club, and a review of national and international news. Participants can also take advantage of piano lessons and vocal coaching. The Center also has a theater group that usually stages one performance per year in venues such as Teatr Komedia or Kino Elektronik. The preparation of these performances is supported by professional actors on a volunteer basis. We work on strengths—not deficits.
