Under the Wings Community Self-Help Center

The Under the Wings Community Self-Help Center is a day-support facility for adults with mental health conditions. We operate two locations in the Ochota district: House Type A (at 109 Grójecka St.) for people with chronic mental illnesses, and House Type B (at 75 Nowogrodzka St.) for individuals with intellectual disabilities, including those with multiple disabilities and/or autism spectrum disorders.

We support our participants through individual meetings, psychological counseling, and group activities, such as:

  • Social and communication skills training
  • Metacognitive training and psychoeducation
  • Culinary, budgeting, and memory workshops
  • Creative and civic engagement activities
  • Assistance in navigating government offices and healthcare institutions

Main areas (industries) in which we operate

  • Social Assistance.

Values that guide our work:

Our Philosophy: Why we are a Community Self-Help House

  • COMMUNITY (Środowiskowy) – because we are an integral part of the local community. We stay close to our participants and their families, co-creating a local support system. We collaborate with doctors and social workers, and we actively work to break negative stereotypes surrounding mental health.
  • HOUSE (Dom) – because it feels like home here. We share daily activities, responsibilities, and chores; we celebrate successes and tackle challenges together. We support one another in recovery and in building independent lives.
  • SELF-HELP (Samopomocy) – because we help each other. We understand and respect our individual feelings and abilities, and we find strength in sharing our lived experiences.
