Disappearing Innovations: How Social Innovations Become Everyday Institutional Practice
During this workshop, we will share insights and experiences gathered through the Regional Social Innovation Incubator (RIIS), an initiative dedicated to the active, multidimensional dissemination of social innovations across the Wielkopolska region. RIIS was established to address the need for integrating practical, innovative solutions into the daily routines of professionals working across the broader social policy system.
The workshop is addressed especially to representatives of public institutions, non-governmental organizations, social economy entities, and practitioners interested in embedding social innovations into institutional practice.
The session will focus on the phenomenon of "disappearing innovation"—a process through which innovative solutions cease to be viewed as novel or supplementary and instead become seamlessly integrated into everyday practice. The workshop will examine how this transition unfolds across key domains, including social work, assistant services, community-based support, and local civic engagement.

Presentation of the Regional Social Innovation Incubator (RIIS)
- The history and development of RIIS
- Methods of operating and disseminating social innovations
- Why do innovations “disappear”?
- Social innovations and public institutions
- Challenges, surprises, and shifts in thinking when working with innovation
- Opportunities for development and replication of the model
Social Innovation in Practice
- Presentation of short exercises inspired by social innovations disseminated by RIIS
- Networking, partnerships, and social innovation
- Examples of “disappearing innovations”
