Marita Gorgiladze
Mykolas Romeris University
Marita Gorgiladze is a Ph.D. student at the Institute of International and European Union Law at Mykolas Romeris University. She was also a Visiting Researcher at Ghent University, Belgium, where she completed a three-month research internship. She currently works as a trainer in Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Compliance in Western Union’s Global Operations Training Department.
Her doctoral dissertation is entitled “Legal Preconditions of the Freedom to Conduct a Business under the New EU Sanctions Regime". She is also involved as a junior researcher in the project “Hybrid Threats, International Law, and Geopolitical Security: A Baltic Perspective” (HYBLAW).
During her PhD studies, Marita spent one semester as an Erasmus student at the University of Graz, Austria. She holds master’s degrees in European and International Business Law from Savoie Mont Blanc University in France and Mykolas Romeris University in Lithuania. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Law from Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University in Georgia.
Her academic experience includes participation in several scientific conferences and the publication of research on sanctions. In addition to her experience in AML compliance, she has worked with non-governmental organizations in the fields of human rights and criminal law and completed an internship at the Parliament of Georgia.
