Pro Persona and Radboud University Nijmegen

Moniek Hutschemaekers is a Ph.D. candidate and healthcare psychologist at Pro Persona (The Netherlands) and the Radboud University Nijmegen. She has obtained both a Research Master in Behavioral Science and a Master’s degree in Healthcare Psychology from the University of Nijmegen. She is interested in bridging the gap between research and the clinical practice, in particular in research targeting patient groups, which do not benefit form evidence-based treatments. After her graduation she started working as a psychologist and researcher at Pro Persona Overwaal: an outpatient center for anxiety disorders. Here, she worked on research projects with a focus on fear extinction in patients with anxiety disorders. In 2018, she obtained her license as a Healthcare Psychologist. Currently, she is part of a Top Class program in which she combines the post-master educational program for Specialists (Clinical Psychologist) with an external Ph.D. project where she examines the augmentation effects of testosterone on exposure therapy for social anxiety disorder.
