Agnieszka Rayss is a photographer and cofounder of the Sputnik Photos collective. She studied art history at the Jagiellonian University and Universite Paris IV in Paris. She obtained a doctorate from the University of the Arts in Poznań.
She won twice the Picture of the Year award, was twice shortlisted for the Hasselblad Masters Award, and received numerous awards in national competitions, such as Grand Press Photo, BZWBK Press Photo, and Newsreportaż.
She published several photo albums, including: “Z zapisków kolekcjonera” (From a Collectors Notebook) (2019),“Tu się zaczyna koniec miast” (This is where the end of cities begins) (2015) – about the industrial unsettling aspect of urban organisms, and “American Dream” – about the cultural transformation and the triumph of pop culture in Central and Eastern Europe.
Agnieszka Rayss conducts numerous photography workshops at SWPS University’s School of Form, at the University of Warsaw’s Institute of Polish Culture, and the Centre National Audiovisuel in Luxemburg. She also taught at several photography schools, was a curator of the ShowOff section of the Krakow Photomonth Festival, and sat in the jury of numerous photography competitions.
She is also the Head of the Photo-Video Studio at School of Form.
