Infrastructure

We ensure that our researchers are provided with the best possible conditions for pursuing their work. We systematically expand our research capabilities by equipping our laboratories with specialized equipment for psychophysiological research and the latest software for qualitative data analysis.

Researchers and students have at their disposal rooms fitted with one-way mirrors, audio-video recording systems, computerized research workstations, as well as advanced equipment and tools which enable them to carry out their experimental research.

Laboratories for psychophysiological studies

Our laboratories are equipped with cutting-edge equipment for psychophysiological, neuropsychological, electromyographic, eye-tracking and behavioral research.

Our professional research equipment includes:

  • EEG electroencephalographs for brain wave measurement,
  • eye-trackers for the study of eye movements,
  • EEG amplifiers for the measurement of bioelectrical activity of the brain,
  • Cedrus Response Pad for behavioral research,
  • GSR galvanometers for the study of skin response,
  • EMG equipment for electromyographic tests, measuring the electrical activity of muscles,
  • tDCS stimulators,
  • JAWON MEDICAL X-contact 350F body composition analyser,
  • ActiGraph GT3X-BT accelerometers (with Actilife 6 software).

Specialized
software

Computer workstations for research

The laboratory rooms are equipped with research workstations and computer equipment with specialized software (MATLAB, Presentation, E-Prime, Inquisit, SPSS, SONA platform, Qualtrics system) for designing and conducting research experiments in the field of social, cognitive and economic psychology (including the presentation of various visual and audio stimuli with the measurement of response times), as well as for preliminary statistical analysis of the obtained results.

Focus rooms

Our researchers have the opportunity to use professional focus rooms for individual and group interviews, public consultation, observations and diagnostic research.

The laboratory facilities enable flexible arrangement of space depending on the needs of the given research project. Camera systems, see-through mirrors and isolated test stations enable researchers to control the course of their experiments and record the dynamics of group processes.

book collections

Libraries and reading rooms

The SWPS University library specialises in collecting publications in the field of social sciences and humanities, in particular psychology, cultural studies, sociology, journalism and social communication, as well as linguistics and language teaching methodology. A large part of the library resource is the Oriental book collection containing unique publications on the history and philosophy of East Asian countries.

Our researchers and students have at their disposal a large video library and an extensive multimedia reading room. We also offer free of charge access to specialized electronic databases such as: EBSCO, PsycINFO, PsycARTICLES, SocINDEX, Elsevier, LEX, and Wiley Online Library, allowing students and researchers to browse professional literature and review the latest research reports from scientists around the world.
