Professor Aleksandra Kroemeke is a health psychologist She researches temporal and reciprocal aspects of coping with stress, in particular in chronic illness. She investigates trajectories of coping and well-being during the process of adjusting to a chronic illness as well as individual and communal resources of coping with illness in patients and patient-partner/caretaker dyads. She is also interested in neuropsychological effects of physical activity and correlations between physical activity and health in late adulthood.
She is a Principal Investigator in the project “Meaning-reconstruction process in cancer: the role of psychological flexibility. Intensive longitudinal and experimental studies”, and she has been co-leading another study – “Providing Social Support and Health: Conditions and temporal dynamics”. Both project are financed by the National Science Centre.
In 2017, she received the award granted by the Rector of SWPS University for her contribution to research. She also received multiple awards for research from the Dean of the Faculty of Psychology in Warsaw.
Professor Kroemeke authored and co-authored numerous publications, including: “Salutary effect of daily coping self-efficacy: impact on day-by-day coping to mood effects within dyads following hematopoietic stem cell transplantation” (Anxiety, Stress & Coping), “Dyadic support and affect in patient-caregiver dyads following hematopoietic stem-cell transplantation: A diary study” (Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology), and “Coping flexibility and health-related quality of life among older adults: compensatory effect of co-rumination” (Frontiers in Psychology).
At SWPS University she teaches classes in health psychology. She is also the coordinator of the “Psychologist’s role in therapy of people suffering from somatic conditions” module.
