Emilia Cholewicka, Ph.D. is a cultural researcher, dancer, and cultural economist. She specializes in cultural economics and dance studies, in particular the labor market of artists, and the cultural and creative economy sectors.
Dr. Cholewicka is a researcher in the Creative Industries Cultural Economy Production Network (CICERONE), financed by the EU’s Horizon 2020 program. She also investigates the inequalities between men and women in the ballet sector in Poland. Previously, she contributed to “A Census of Artists, Creators and Performers in Poland”, which was headed by Professor Dorota Ilczuk.
Her publications include: Rola płci w edukacji tanecznej i na rynku tańca. Perspektywa stolicy w kontekście ogólnopolskim [The role of gender in dance education on the dance market. The capital perspective in the national context] in Taniec w Warszawie – społeczeństwo, edukacja, kultura [Dance in Warsaw – society, education, culture], edited by Hanna Raszewska-Kursa, Warsaw 2018.
Dr. Cholewicka participates in numerous conferences, for example she presented a paper at the “Women in Dance Leadership” conference at Drexel University, in Philadelphia, USA.
Emilia is a professional dancer. She graduated form the Roman Turczynowicz Ballet School in Warsaw. During her artistic career she worked with renowned Polish dancers, choreographers, and theatre directors including Marta Ziółek, Kaya Kołodziejczyk, Paulina Wycichowska, Mariusz Treliński, and Jacek Tyski.
At SWPS University she teaches classes in cultural economics.
