Emilia Cholewicka, Ph.D., is a cultural researcher, cultural economics, and a dancer. She researches the specifics of the artists’ job market, focusing on the feminist perspective. She examines the status of women in the Cultural and Creative Sector (CCS) and correlations between dance and other art disciplines.
As a researcher she contributed to many projects that examined the Cultural and Creative Sector, such as Horizon 2020 Creative Industries Cultural Economy Production Network (CICERONE) and A Census of Artists, Creators and Performers in Poland, which was headed by Professor Dorota Ilczuk.
Her publications include numerous articles and reports, such as: "Women to the Placards! The Socio-economic Situation of Female Choreographers in the Male World of Ballet Art”, II Kongres Tańca – dane statystyczne (The 2nd Dance Congress - The Statistics), Who is smilig? Łańcuchy produkcji sektora muzyki w Polsce (Who is smiling. The Production Chain in the Music Secotor in Poland), Artystki i artyści teatru w czasach COVID-19 (Theatre Artists during the COVID-19 Pandemic)”. She participated in many Polish and international scientific conferences.
Dr. Cholewicka is a professional dancer. She graduated form the Roman Turczynowicz Ballet School in Warsaw. During her artistic career she worked with renowned Polish dancers, choreographers, and theatre directors such as Marta Ziółek, Kaya Kołodziejczyk, Paulina Wycichowska, Mariusz Treliński, and Jacek Przybyłowicz.
At SWPS University she teaches classes in cultural economics, entrepreneurship for artists, and cultural studies.
