Profile
Professor Evelina Kristanova is a media researcher. Before joining SWPS University, she lectured at the University of Warsaw. From 1995 to 2017, she held a position of Assistant Professor at the Department of Informatology and Bibliology of the University of Lodz. She also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology from the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University (UKSW) in Warsaw.
Professor Kristanova is a member of the editorial board of Nasza Przeszłość and Humanities and Social Sciences journals. From 2009 to 2012, she was the Secretary of the Editorial Office of Acta Universitatis Lodziensis. She is a member of the Polish Communication Association (PCA) and the Society for the History of the Humanities. She was the initiator and organizer of the cyclical conferences “Politics and Media. Media and Politics” (2019-2022). She collaborates with editorial boards of the following academic journals: Sustainability, Journalism and Media, Com.press, Religions, Kultura, Media, Teologia, Toruńskie Studia Bibliologiczne, Z Badań nad Książką i Księgozbiorami Historycznymi, and Zeszyty Prasoznawcze.
She is a researcher in the Central Research Project of the Institute of National Remembrance — “Władze PRL wobec środowisk twórczych, dziennikarskich i naukowych” (The Attitude of the Communist Authorities in Poland towards the Creative Sector, Journalists, and Academia), and in a project funded by the Minister of Education and Science from the National Programme for the Development of Humanities — “Dokumenty i materiały do dziejów Rozgłośni Polskiej Radia Wolna Europa, cz. II (kontynuacja) t. I-V plus 2” (Documents and materials pertaining to the history of Radio Free Europe Polish Service, part II (continuation), tome I-V plus 2”.
At SWPS University, she teaches classes on journalistic sources of information, public opinion, and communication. She is also a Bachelor’s and Master’s thesis advisor.
