Professor Marta Gibińska-Marzec is a philologist specializing in English literature and translation studies.
She published numerous articles in academic journals such as Shakespeare Yahrbuch, The Shakespeare International Yearbook, Literaria Praguensia. Studies in Literature and Culture, Linguaculture, Studia Litteraria Universitatis Iagellonicae Cracoviensis, and the British and American Studies (B.A.S.). She authored several books, including Functioning of Language in Shakespeare’s Plays. A Pragma-dramatic Approach (1989), Polish Poets Read Shakespeare. Refashioning of the Tradition (2000), and many chapters in monographs on English literature.
She is a member of organizations devoted to the study of William Shakespeare’s works, such as the Polish Shakespeare Association, European Shakespeare Research Association, the International Shakespeare Association, and Deutsche Shakespeare Gesellschaft.
In her spare time, she volunteers at the Polish Association for Gifted Youth that supports talented primary school students.
At SWPS University she teaches theory and practice of translation, the culture of English-speaking countries, and literature of the British Commonwealth.
