Michał Chlebowski holds a doctoral degree in Humanities, however, currently he carries out research in the discipline of Social Sciences, in particular the area of Communication and Media Studies. His projects focus on media ethics, journalistic standards, media inclusivity, and media axiology and deontology. He is also interested in the topics of media convergence, disinformation, and the impact of new media on society.
He is an experienced journalist who has gained professional experience by working for television stations such as TVN24, a Polish 24-hour commercial news channel (2009-2023), most recently in the role of a Programming Standards Manger. As a seasoned journalist and educator he contributes to the development of ethical standards in the media and adds to the body of knowledge concerning social communication and media.
Dr. Chlebowski completed an Erasmus+ mobility exchange at Dortmund University in Germany. He is a member of an international task force for “Establishing Effective Media Self- Regulation in Poland” and the Polish Communication Association (PCA). He is a member of a team working on a EU project — Covering Cohesion Policy in Europe (COPE) – Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) for European Journalism Students.
He authored numerous publications, for example on the challenges news media face during crises such as war or epidemics, and has written a monograph Dziennikarzy portret własny (Journalists’ Self-Portrait).
At SWPS University he teaches classes in journalistic ethics, legal and ethical aspects of public relations, media business models, journalistic genre, and practical skills for television journalists.
