Professor Olga Piaskowska is an attorney. Her research interests include areas of civil law and civil litigation, preliminary ruling procedure in criminal proceedings, protracted litigation, application of the European Convention on Human Rights in the Polish civil litigation, and academic teaching. Currently, together with Professor Piotr Piesiewicz, she researches the impact of Artificial Intelligence, including tools such as Chat GPT, on lawyering skills and original writing of dissertations.
Together with Professor Piesiewcz, she co-developed the only lawyering skills program in Poland for SWPS University’s School of Law. She has been the supervisor of the Civil Law Section of SWPS University’s Student Legal Services for several years. She was also the Chair of the Student Disciplinary Committee (2016-2022), and in March 2022, she was appointed the Academic Ombudsman at SWPS University.
From 2011 to 2021, Professor Piaskowska was a Senior Assistant at the Civil Chambers of Poland’s Supreme Court. She is a member of many professional organizations, including The Association of Law Teachers (ALT), the Legal Education Research Network (LERN), the Global Alliance for Justice Education (GAJE), and the Polish Association for European Law.
She was the winner of the 2014 Złote Skrzydła (Gold Wings) award for the best doctoral thesis, granted by Dziennik Gazeta Prawna, a Polish legal and business daily, and the recipient of the 2015 Rising Stars — Lawyers Leaders of Tomorrow Award.
Professor Piaskowska is a certified educator. At SWPS University, she teaches classes in civil proceedings, lawyering skills, eristic, rhetoric, legal argumentation, and litigation in civil cases.
