About the scholarship

What is the “Code the Future” competition?

“Code the Future” is a two-stage competition designed to support talented candidates applying to our Computer Studies program.

What can you win?

Winners receive one of three scholarships that cover the first year tuition fee. If they maintain a suitably high grade point average (GPA), i.e. higher by 0.1 than the GPA across their year), SWPS University will continue to cover their tuition.

Who can apply?

All candidates applying to our Computer Studies program, who have already completed their own (outside of school) computer science and information technology projects can submit their applications.

We are not looking for advanced IT skills - you will learn them during your studies. For now, we just want to see your creativity and passion for computer science. Don’t hesitate, show us what you can do!

Evaluation Process

The schoalrship evaluation is a two-stage process.

  1. Stage I – the Scholarship Committee selects 10 best submissions. The Committee pays particular attention to creativity, independence, and technical level of the submitted projects.
  2. Stage II – Each of the 10 finalists is invited for a 10-minute interview to further discuss the submitted project(s) and present their interests and motivation for pursuing computer studies. Based on the interviews, the Committee selects three winners of the scholarship “Code the Future”.

Evaluation Criteria

“Code the Future” is a competition-based scholarship, where the winners are selected by the Scholarship Committee. The components of the evaluation include:

  • practical knowledge – 25 points
  • independence – 25 points
  • technical skills – 25 points
  • interest in and motivation in pursuing Computer Studies – 25 points.

Winners Announcement

The results of the “Code the Future” competition will be announced on August 2, 2024. Winners will be notified by e-mail. The list of winners will also be published on the webpage of SWPS University.

Code the Future Scholarship

  • Milena Mrugała is a graduate of Coders Lab, a non-degree school for programmers and developers. She completed a Java Developer course. She has written three projects using the Spring Boot framework. She also developed a few console applications.
  • Piotr Sowa is focused on developing his own projects, for example roguelike games (role-playing games), where he creates various elements of the games, including the story lines, characters, and mechanics. The games are written in object code. Piotr uses Python in Pycharm/Visual Studio Code environment.
  • Yurii Vorotnyy completed two small Arduino projects: an ice cream driver operated by a remote control and a small robot for pouring liquid into cups. The robot can be programmed to pour a specified amount of liquid and it senses whether the cup has been placed under the dispenser. It works in two modes: auto – it begins pouring the liquid when a new cup is placed under the dispenser, and manual – user pushes a button to activate the pouring action.
