SWPS University and Norbsoft Sign a Cooperation Agreement

SWPS University has signed a cooperation agreement with Norbsoft Sp. z o.o., a leading mobile application developer in Poland, to develop and implement a system for the Design, Evaluation and Sharing of Mobile Psychological Interventions on mobile devices (DESMoPsI). The results of research conducted by StresLab will be used in the development of an innovative mobile application for providing psychological interventions online.

PSYCHOLOGICAL INTERVENTIONS ONLINE

An increasing number of people are open to receiving psychological therapy online. It is a convenient way of cooperation between a therapist and a patient as it offers anonymity, broader availability, scheduling flexibility, and lower costs than traditional in-office treatments. Additionally, it enables an immediate support in crisis situations.

Thanks to a 1.2M PLN grant awarded in the TANGO competition, organized by the National Science Centre, a team of researchers from StresLab , under the leadership of Associate Professor Roman Cieślak, is developing an innovative system for the Design, Evaluation and Sharing of Mobile Psychological Interventions on Mobile Devices (DESMoPsI).

ACADEMIA AND BUSINESS COLLABORATION

The researchers from SWPS University have began a close collaboration on the DESMoPsI project with Norbsoft, a leading mobile application developer in Poland. The joint team is working on the creation of a mobile application, which will provide psychological interventions online and on mobile devices. The professional tool for psychologists, coaches and therapists is being designed based on research conducted by SWPS University researchers.

COMMERCIALIZATION OF SOCIAL SCIENCES RESEARCH

Research in the field of social sciences provides data about human behavior and human needs. The results of this research can be applied in the development of commercial tools, which can enable access to various services and improve the quality of life. The collaboration between SWPS University and Norbsoft is an example of this type of real life commercial application.

POLISH LEADER IN MOBILE APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT

Norbsoft Sp. z o.o. develops and tests applications for mobile devices, for business and individual users. The company was founded in 2003. SUPPORT FOR RESEARCH WITH PRACTICAL POTENTIAL

The DESMoPsI project has been awarded a TANGO grant, which is a proof-of-concept grant, combining basic and applied research. The TANGO funding scheme enables scientists to turn their projects in basic research into solutions and products that may benefit populations and economies in a direct way. The grant is provided by the National Science Centre (NCN) and The National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR).

DESMoPsI is one of the very few projects in the social sciences and humanities category that have been awarded the TANGO grant.
