Profile
Aleksandra Arciszewska-Leszczuk, Ph.D., specializes in clinical psychology, psychiatry and neurology. She researches correlations between selected psychological factors and exacerbation of early and subclinical symptoms of affective disorders (e.g., depression and bipolar disorder), anxiety, and psychotic episodes. She aims to find mediator variables (such as personality traits, personal resources, thinking strategies, cognitive functions, and emotional disorders), which can be modified, hence can be worked on during therapeutic sessions with psychologists, and lower the risk of onset of full-blown symptoms. She also researches the experience (positive and negative) of family caregivers, who live with psychiatric and neurological patients.
As a neuropsychologist, Dr. Arciszewska-Leszczuk is also interested in neural bases of psychological phenomena (i.e., emotions, perception, behavior, etc.) as well as the impact of the central nervous system injuries on daily life functions. She specializes in the improvement of intellectual resources, for example post-stroke and post-injury neuropsychological rehabilitation as well as cognitive functions improvement in patients suffering from neurodegenerative conditions, such as Alzheimer’s.
At SWPS University, she teaches classes in introduction to psychology, biological bases of behavior, cognitive functions in somatic patients, neuroscience of personal development, psychological interview, statistics, and research methodology.
