Professor Hubert Izdebski is an acclaimed lawyer, attorney at law, and advocate. He specializes in public law and its impact on civil law. His professional experience, spanning over 30 years, includes various aspects of legal work, such as developing draft legislations, working with clients as an attorney at law, and working on administrative and constitutional law cases. He is interested in the axiology and genesis of legal solutions and the matters of public management.
His contributions to the Polish law are numerous. He authored a draft of the second legislation on local government for the City of Warsaw (1994). He contributed to the development of various draft legislations, such as the Law on Higher Education and Science (1989-1990), and the Act on Public Benefit Activities and Volunteer Work in Poland (1995-2003). He was a member of SWPS University team that was selected in a competition to develop detailed assumptions for the draft legislation on higher education and science — the so called Act 2.0. He is a corresponding member of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
Prof. Izdebski is a recipient of the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta for outstanding contributions to academic teaching, and the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta for his public engagement, strengthening of the rule of law, and contributions to the modernization of public administration and the development of local government in Poland. He also received a Polish Honorary Medal for Contributions to Legislation — a departmental recognition bestowed by the Prime Minister.
At SWPS University, he teaches jurisprudence, theory and philosophy of law, and legal ethics.
