Maria Cyniak-Cieciura, Ph.D., is a psychologist and psychotherapist. Her research interests include post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), the role of temperament in the development and reduction of psychopathological symptoms, and determinants of effective psychotherapy.
She was the Principal Investigator in a research project “The impact of temperament and stress on the health and quality of life. Preliminary research.” Earlier, she collaborated with the Interdisciplinary Centre for Behavioural Genetics at the University of Warsaw on a research project “PTSD: diagnosis, therapy, prophylaxis”.
She authored numerous articles and books, including: Formalna Charakterystyka Zachowania – Kwestionariusz Temperamentu: Wersja Zmodyfikowana. Podręcznik. (Formal Characteristics of Behavior – Temperament Questionnaire: Modified Version. A Handbook), which she co-written with Professor Jan Strelau and Professor Bogdan Zawadzki.
From 2016 to 2018 she was the Chair of the Polish Association for Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (PTTPiB).
At SWPS University she teaches classes in psychotherapy and psychometrics.
