Sylwia Szostak, Ph.D. is a media researcher. She completed her Ph.D. at the University of Nottingham and later worked on the "Screening Socialism" project at the University of Loughborough. She then went on to work for a Polish commercial broadcaster TVN.
Her work has been published in the European Journal of Cultural Studies, the Journal of Popular Television, and Critical Studies in Television. She is the co-editor of a themed issue of the European Journal of Cultural Studies devoted to the "Global Media Industries in Central and Eastern Europe" (forthcoming). As a film journalist and culture writer, she also collaborates with a Polish film and media journal Ekrany, and a news portal Interia.
Sylwia's research focuses on the changes occurring in Polish television and film production resulting from the expansion of global streaming services, in particular the production culture, creativity, workflows, and regulation.
At SWPS University, Sylwia teaches undergraduate and postgraduate students. She lectures on media and cultural industries, television studies and television history, streaming media, promotional culture, and screen marketing. Additionally, she is a bachelor's, master's and doctoral thesis advisor.
