Profile

Nils Muižnieks earned his PhD in political science from the University of California, Berkeley.
He has served as Director of the Advanced Social and Political Research Institute at the University of Latvia, Chair of the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance, Latvia's Minister for Social Integration, and Director of the Latvian Centre for Human Rights.
From 2012 to 2018, he served as the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights.
