Gavin Herbertson

 

 

 

 

Profile

Gavin Herbertson, Ph.D., is a literary and cultural theorist. He holds a B.A. from the Jesus College, University of Oxford, M.Phil. from Sidney Sussex College, University of Cambridge, and D.Phil. from St Catherine’s College, University of Oxford.

His research interests include postcolonial theory and anglophone literature, with a particular focus on the Caribbean and global modernisms.

Dr. Herbertson has published extensively in academic journals, such as Modernist Cultures, New West Indian Guide, The Modernist Review, Comparative Critical Studies, the Journal of West Indian Literature, and the Journal of Postcolonial Writing. He is currently working on a monograph entitled Polycoloniality: Envisioning a Second-Wave Postcolonialism.

He is also a Visiting Research Fellow at King’s College London, having previously lectured at the University of Southampton and taught World Literature to undergraduates visiting Oxford from the universities of Harvard and Columbia.

At SWPS University in Warsaw he teaches:
