Profile

Sociologist, specializing in social policy. His research interests inlcude social issues and poverty-related exclusion.

Editor-in-chief of the European Perspectives on Social Development: Social Policy and Social Work series, LiT Publishing House, Berlin (since 2008) and of the Societas Pars Mundi Publishing, Bielefeld (since 2011). Former scientific advisor to the Commissioner for Human Rights. Honorary President of the European Section of the International Consortium of Social Development, honorary member of Stowarzyszenie Samorządowych Ośrodków Pomocy Społecznej FORUM (the Association of Local Social Walefare Centers FORUM).

Author of numerous publications in the field of social policy, social economy and civil society, including: Pomoc społeczna w wybranych krajach Unii Europejskiej (2009) (Social Walefare in Selected Countries of the European Union) and Social Work between Discipline and Profession, A Historical Case Study of Social Work in Germany from the 1970s – to the 1990s (2012). Principal Investigator of the research project "Internet Tools for Research in Europe on New Drugs: interdisciplinary and integrated approaches to substances, users and markets’", financed by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education .

At SWPS University, he lectures on social policy, civil society, social movements and civic organizations.
