location: cross-university project
duration: 2026 2027 2028

Since October 2021, SWPS University has been implementing the project "My SWPS University – An Accessible Campus," co-financed by the European Union through the European Social Fund (Knowledge Education Development Operational Programme 2014–2020).

Our university was awarded funding for this initiative through the National Centre for Research and Development competition, "Accessible University" (POWR.03.05.00-00-A047/21-00). The total grant amount is PLN 4,062,634.90. The project is scheduled for implementation from November 1, 2021, to October 31, 2023.

The solutions to be developed and implemented at the university aim to ensure equal access to education for students with disabilities, at all levels of education.

The "Accessible University" competition defines three levels of advancement: Mini, Midi, and Maxi. The activities planned at SWPS University will allow us to achieve a level of accessibility consistent with the "Midi" pathway — a significant increase in university accessibility for persons with disabilities.

Project objectives

The primary goal of the project is to support the professional development of SWPS University’s academic staff by enhancing their teaching and cross-disciplinary competencies — skills that are specifically tailored to meet the evolving challenges of academic life. Participants will develop expertise in the following four areas:

  • digital
  • teaching
  • green transformation
  • universal design.

At the same time, the project envisions the development of an organizational unit responsible for enhancing the quality of education: the Center for Academic Competence and Development. The outcomes of this project will support the professional development of academic staff, ensuring the continuity of educational processes and fostering a smooth generational transition within the faculty.

The beneficiaries of the project include the university and its teaching staff — permanent and contract academics staff, including those who will be hired between 2026 and 2028 as well as doctoral students of the SWPS University Doctoral School.

Project tasks and expected outcomes

The following tasks have been planned:

  1. Establishing of the Center for Academic Competence and Development responsible for enhancing the quality of the teaching process. The Center will update the methods for the assessment of learning outcomes, develop an e-learning course on the Internal Education Quality Management System in two language versions, and implement two new technological solutions.
  2. The development of teaching competencies, effective knowledge sharing, and the promotion of innovative teaching methods among teaching advisors, who play a key role in enhancing the quality of education at SWPS University. This task will include meetings, workshops, and training sessions for teaching advisors, as well as participation in international conferences.
  3. Comprehensive improvement of teaching, digital, and universal design competencies. This task involves training conducted by external experts for deans, teaching advisors, and coordinators, among others, followed by the further cascading of acquired knowledge throughout the university's teaching staff.
  4. The implementation of educational activities for the green transition through an e-learning course for the university's teaching staff and study visits to renowned partner research centers. The purpose of these visits is to learn best practices in education concerning sustainable development. Participants will have the opportunity to take part in lectures, workshops, and meetings with experts that will enable them to implement innovative teaching methods and incorporate the acquired knowledge into their curricula.

The planned activities will result in enhancement of teaching staff competencies and the implementation of new technological and organizational solutions, leading to a systemic improvement in the quality of education at our university.
