Our double degree Media and Society program, offered in cooperation with Macromedia University of Applied Sciences in Germany, is designed to train media professionals of the future. During the first year, you will study at SWPS University in Warsaw, Poland, where you will gain theoretical knowledge and practical skills indispensible to jouranlists, during lectures and workshops led by media and social communication experts. For the second year of your studies, you will move to Macromedia University in Munich or Berlin in Germany, where you will complete real tasks and practical projects at renowned companies such as Siemens, Adobe or Sky.

After successful completion of the program students receive the following diplomas:

  • Master's Degree in Journalism and Social Communication from SWPS University
  • Master's Degree in Media and Communication Management from Macromedia University

Our program is addressed to candidates who are interested in media management as well as business managers, journalists, public relation specialists as well as marketing and advertising experts. Requirements:

Students are accepted to the program based on their academic performance, motivation and language skills. The requirements for the double degree program are as follows:

  • Bachelor's degree diploma in any field
  • Demonstrated English language proficiency (TOEFL (iBT) with at least 72 out of 120 points or IELTS with at least 6.0 out of 9.0, or equivalent).

Our graduates go on to successful careers in media and PR organizations, such as: newspapers, radio, television, media agencies, public relations companies, advertising agencies, marketing departments of international corporations or choose careers in politics and diplomacy.

First year in Warsaw, Poland

At SWPS University, you will gain theoretical knowledge and practical skills during lectures and workshops led by media experts. You will acquire knowledge related to communication, organizational culture, media studies and public relations. For example, you will study mass media communication, intercultural communication, politics and media in Europe, business planning, and principles of journalism. You will conduct research and information assessments and you will learn how to differentiate between real and fake news. You will also gain effective presentation, persuasion, negotiation and mediation skills.

You will learn how to use digital media to ensure reach, followers, views, and downloads. We will teach you how to effectively manage public and media relations and show you the latest trends and techniques of building personal brand. Our experts will share their experience related to the implementation of new technologies in the media market. You will have a chance to practice your competencies in professionally equipped studios, such as radio production room or computer labs.

You will have an opportunity to learn in an international and multicultural environment that fosters team work competencies and creative problem solving. This will prepare you for a career in multicultural organizations. You will learn how to manage inter-cultural communication and conflict resolution, in particular in Central and East European environment.

Additionally, you will have an opportunity to grow your professional contact network.

At the end of the first year, you will be required to formulate the topic of your thesis..

To fulfill SWPS University’s diploma requirements, you must complete a working internship during the second year at Macromedia University.

Second year in Munich or Berlin, Germany

At Macromedia University, you will have an opportunity to complete real tasks and practical projects often with renowned companies that are part of the university's network, such as Siemens, Adobe or Sky. During the first semester you will gain analytical skills, which you will apply in the second semester to conduct research for your evidence-based Master’s thesis. You will also gain theoretical knowledge indispensable for professionals working in creative industries.

You will have classes three days a week, which will allow you to find an internship employment and work for two days a week (240 hours of internship are required to fulfil the diploma requirements at SWPS University). Munich, a home to numerous corporations and international companies, and Berlin, a hub for media and communications start-ups, offer ample opportunities for student internships. Thanks to the internships and practical projects completed in cooperation with business partners, many students find employment right after graduation.

Macromedia University is one of the largest German universities for professionally-oriented courses in media management, design and business administration.
