Unique Teaching Program
SWPS University’s Doctoral Seminars - Our Difference

Our doctoral seminars enable doctoral candidates, who are not students at the Doctoral School, to obtain external/extramural doctorates (in Polish: z wolnej stopy) in the disciplines of sociology and political and administrative sciences. The program was designed to provide doctoral candidates with a solid subject-matter and methodological background. It is conducive to multifaceted development and ensures that participants gain knowledge, skills and competencies indispensable in the process of obtaining a doctoral degree. The program includes theoretical overview of social sciences and data analysis, and provides doctoral students with an opportunity to work with acclaimed academics and researchers - their thesis advisors.

The seminars are addressed to professionals working in business organizations, NGOs or public administration, who would like to obtain an external/extramural doctoral degree in sociology or political and administrative sciences.

  1. Idispensible skills

Our seminars in the discipline of humanities are concerned with crucial issues of the modern world and provide tools, which help to better understand the current social and cultural phenomena. This knowledge can be applied in practice, especially in professions related to culture, media and education.

  2. Flexibility

Our teaching schedule is aligned with the availability of students who work full time. Classes are usually take place in late afternoons, one-two times a month, however thanks to small groups, there is a large degree of flexibility and there is a possibility of adjusting the schedule to suit our doctoral students. We also offer an individual study path.

  3. Learning outcomes

Poland’s Ministry of Education and Science (MEiN) requires doctoral candidates to achieve educational outcomes known as Level 8 of the Polish Qualifications Framework. The education package offered by our doctoral seminars enables doctoral students to reach and verify the educational outcomes and, subsequently, begin the process leading to obtaining a doctoral degree at SWPS University.
