Contributing to a better future
Universities around the world are increasingly taking bold steps to support sustainable development, going beyond their traditional mission of education and research. They are proposing innovative solutions, driving social change, and responding to global challenges—from growing social and educational inequalities to the climate crisis.
The 2025 edition of the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings highlights how higher education institutions around the world contribute to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This year’s ranking evaluated 2,526 universities from 130 countries and regions, including 25 from Poland.
SWPS University has maintained its position ranking between 401–600 globally, with an increased score of 72.3 points. We secured second place in Poland, tying with Jagiellonian University. The Gdańsk University of Technology and the University of Gdańsk shared first place.
Strong results across key sustainable development goals
SWPS University was assessed in six Sustainable Development Goals. Our overall position is based on our performance in SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals and the three other goals in which we achieved the highest scores.
Below is a summary of our positions in the four goals that contributed to our final score:
- SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being – 401-600
- SDG 5: Gender Equality – 101-200
- SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities – 201-300
- SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals – 301-400
Building global partnerships for the goals
SWPS University made the biggest leap in SDG 17—Partnerships for the Goals—with a significant improvement in both points and ranking. We earned 81.5 points in this category, placing third in Poland. Notably, we received maximum scores in two areas: the publication of SDG reports and education for the SDGs
This result highlights our commitment to transparency, collaboration, and the global exchange of knowledge. We actively pursue partnerships that promote sustainable development at local, national, and international levels.
Promoting gender equality
SWPS University ranked second in Poland for SDG 5: Gender Equality, maintaining our strong position in this category. The evaluation considers factors such as gender balance among students and staff, the percentage of women earning degrees, women in senior academic roles, and research related to gender issues.
We are committed to creating an inclusive academic and professional environment that advances equality and prevents discrimination in all areas of our operations.
Reducing inequality
In the SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, SWPS University improved its score and secured second place in Poland. We maintained our global ranking despite the addition of over 100 new universities in this category compared to last year.
Our efforts focus on ensuring accessibility for students with disabilities, supporting diversity, and conducting research on social and migration policies.
Advancing health and well-being
In the SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being SWPS University maintained its global position, despite nearly 300 new universities joining the ranking. We earned 60.7 points and ranked third among Polish higher education institutions.
Our research centers conduct projects on mental health, addiction, and behavioral science. We also provide psychological support for communities in crisis, including refugees from Ukraine and victims of last year’s flooding in Poland.
