Dr. Jacek Lachendro graduated from the Jagiellonian University, where in 2003, he defended his doctoral dissertation on “The press of the Kraków district 1918-1939”. After his graduation he worked as a teacher and researched the history of the press collaborating, since 1998, with the Committee for Press Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) in Kraków. He published several articles in academic journals, such as Studia Historyczne, Rocznik Historii Prasy Polskiej, and Małopolska: regiony — regionalizmy — małe ojczyzny. In 2006, he published a book Prasa województwa krakowskiego w latach 1918-1939 (The press of the Kraków district 1918-1939). He co-authored a book Najnowszej historii świata (The Most Recent History of the World), which was published in 2008. He has been working at the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum since 2005. In 2008, he was appointed Deputy Head of the Museum’s Research Center.
