Dr. Piotr Setkiewicz is a historian and Head of the Research Center at the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum. He graduated with a diploma in history from the Jagiellonian University. In 1999, he defended his doctoral thesis on “IG Farben - Werk Auschwitz 1941–1945” at the University of Silesia in Katowice. Since 1988, he has been working as a researcher at the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum in Oświęcim, first at the Research Department, then from 2001 to 2007 as the Head of the Archives. In 2008, he was appointed the Head of the Research Department, which became the Research Center in 2014. His main research interests include employment of prisoners by the German industry, and the history of sub-camps of the Auschwitz concentration camp. He authored several dozen articles and several other publications on the history of Auschwitz.
