Dominik Horodyski, Ph.D., is a counsel at the Department of International and European Law of the General Counsel to the Republic of Poland, formerly an advocate. He is a graduate of the LL.M. (Master of Laws) program at Columbia Law School, where he was awarded the Appel Fellowship. He earned his Ph.D. in law from the Jagiellonian University in Kraków.
In his professional and academic work, he specializes in investment and commercial dispute resolution (negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and litigation). He has extensive experience representing both public and private entities in complex disputes in the energy, mining, construction, infrastructure, and finance sectors.
During his studies at Columbia Law School, he served as a research assistant to Professors George A. Bermann and Kabir Duggal, participated in the Mediation Clinic as a certified mediator conducting mediations before the Bronx Civil Court, co-chaired the Columbia International Arbitration Association, and worked as an articles editor for the American Review of International Arbitration.
Dr. Horodyski is the author of publications on investment and commercial arbitration, company law, and international law. His works have appeared in Przegląd Prawa Handlowego, ADR Arbitraż i Mediacja, Polish Yearbook of International Law, and in Monitor Podatkowy. His doctoral dissertation received a distinction in the competition for the President of the General Counsel to the Republic of Poland Award for the best doctoral thesis.
At the Faculty of Law at SWPS University, he teaches courses in international and domestic commercial law, investment and commercial arbitration, as well as company and commercial contract law (in Polish and English).
He serves as the Dean’s Representative for Moot Court, supporting the development and participation of students in national and international arbitration competitions. He coaches the Faculty’s team in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot, supervises the Civil Law Section of the Student Legal Clinic, and represents the Faculty of Law in Warsaw on the University’s Employee Council.
