About the Vis Moot competition

The Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot is one of the most prestigious moot courts worldwide. It has been held annually in Vienna for over 30 years and attracts participants from more than 400 universities and law schools across the world.

Moot court competitions are simulated proceedings before an international court or tribunal. They typically involve two phases: a written phase, focusing on the preparation of pleadings, and an oral phase, where student teams assume the roles of lawyers representing the parties during a mock trial.

This year's bootcamp

The Fall Bootcamp: The Vis Moot for Eastern and Central Europe is a training event taking place in Warsaw from October 24 to 26, 2025. The bootcamp is designed for law students and young professionals preparing for the 2025–2026 Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot. The program features lectures, interactive workshops, and panel discussions focusing on the newly released Vis Moot problem, legal drafting, research, and advocacy skills. Attendees will also have the chance to learn from experienced practitioners and connect with peers across the region, building both knowledge and network essential for success in international mooting and arbitration careers.

The training program is focused on:

  • analysis of the Vis Moot problem
  • CISG and international arbitration procedural issues
  • guidance on drafting memos for the claimant and respondent
  • effective argumentation and working with authorities.

Participants can also attend the International Arbitration Conference on October 24, 2025 at 17:00–20:00, followed by a networking reception. The conference will take place at the Lewiatan Arbitration Court. After the event, attendees will receive certificates of participation in the bootcamp and arbitration conference.
