Professor Hanna Komorowska-Janowska is a full professor of applied linguistics at the Department of English Studies of SWPS University in Warsaw. She specializes in pre- and in-service teacher education.
As the Head of the Curriculum Development Center, Professor Komorowska established a team of lecturers, who designed the first ever set of communicative syllabus documents for second and foreign languages taught in the Polish school system.
After Poland's 1989 political transformation, she was the Head of the Expert Committee for Foreign Language Teaching and Teacher Education Reform in Poland.
Over the years, Professor Komorowska-Janowska held various positions, including the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs at the University of Warsaw (1993-1999), Polish delegate for the Modern Languages Project Group by the Council of Europe, member of the EU High Level Group on Multilingualism, and a consultant to the European Centre of Modern Languages in Graz.
She co-author the "European Portfolio for Student Teachers of Languages", and has written numerous publications on the methodology of Foreign Language Teaching (FLT) and teacher education.
