Profile

Professor Jankowiak-Siuda is a molecular biologist and neuropsychologist. In her research she focuses on neurobiological foundations of empathy (emotional and cognitive) and examines how different modulators, such as the characteristics of a person one empathizes with (e.g. gender, attractiveness, intensity of emotions, honesty) and the characteristics of the empathizer (anxiety, sensory sensitivity, gender), as well as the situational context may impact the level of empathic pain. She also researches the influence of genes on the functioning of empathic brain in normal and pathological individuals, and brain's response to pain.

She has written numerous articles on molecular biology, social neuroscience and psychology, published in journals included in the Journal Citation Reports, such as Frontiers in Behavioral Neuroscience, Frontiers in Psychology, PLOS One, European Archives of Psychiatry, and Cellular & Molecular Biology Letters.

At SWPS University she teaches classes in biological foundations of behavior, social neuroscience, from genes to brain, and neuroesthetics.
