Paulina Grzęda, Ph.D., is a cultural researcher, multilingual philologist (English, Spanish, and French), and a certified coach. She researches the representation of trauma and pain in film and literature, alternative perceptions of time in postcolonial cultures, and the contemporary mental health crises, such as the social problems in the United States (e.g., the opioid crisis). She is also interested in the links between literature and psychotherapy.
As a certified coach, Dr. Grzęda specializes in cross-cultural, relationship, and ADHD coaching.
She defended her doctoral thesis on reconceptualization of South Africa’s traumatic history at the University of Warsaw. As a doctoral student, she was a research fellow at the University of Cambridge and the University of London's School of Oriental & African Studies (SOAS).
She authored multiple publications, including a book, on trauma, alternative perceptions of time, mental health crisis, postcolonial cultures, and the British-Asian cinema.
Furthermore, Paulina has extensive experience of working in the cultural sector as an Operations Director of three film festivals.
At SWPS University she teaches classes in the representation of trauma in film and literature, cross-cultural psychology, communication, PR, and practical English. She is also the Supervisor of the English Studies Student Organization (OSKA) and the Coordinator of the English for Business Environment specialization.
