Paweł Fortuna, Ph.D. is a psychologist and the founder of positive cyberpsychology in Poland. He holds the position of Assistant Professor at the Institute of Psychology’s Department of Experimental Psychology of John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin (KUL) and lectures at the Kozminski University (MBA program and Business Psychology for Managers).
Dr. Fortuna collaborates with the Centre for Positive Health Sciences at RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences in Dublin, Ireland. He researches common theories of wellbeing, determinants of positive interactions with AI-based technology, attribution of moral status to artificial systems, and defense against manipulation.
Since 1995, his publications have been geared towards managers and organizations. For example, he co-edited a handbook Psychologia biznesu [Business Psychology], published by PWN. He developed the concept of manipulation-free sales — Sprzedaż bez sprzedawania. Psychologia dobrego wpływu na klienta [Sales without the Sales Pitch. The Psychology of Positive Influence over Client — published by PWN. He is a proponent of consciously shaped organizational culture — Subiektywna psychologia biznesu [Subjective Business Psychology — published by GWP. In total, he authored and co-authored close to twenty books. He also co-authored Lubelski Manifest Psychologii Pozytywnej [Lublin Manifesto of Positive Psychology] and a handbook Psychologia pozytywna biznesu [Positive Business Psychology], published by PWN (2026).
His efforts in popularization of psychology were recognized three times by the Polish Charaktery monthly magazine with the Teofrast Award. He is also a four-time winner of the Książka dla Trenera, a prize awarded for best books addressed to business trainers, granted by the Polish Association of Business Trainers (PTTB). Furthermore, for his book Optimum. Idea cyberpsychologii pozytywnej [The Optimum. The Concept of Positive Cyberpsychology], he received the Positive Award, bestowed by the Polish Positive Psychology Association.
Dr. Fortuna initiated and implemented numerous social projects including the Human Face of Business Conference, Aktualia — The Latest Psychological Research Conference, the Wise Adoption — a social project carried out in collaboration with animal shelters, and Rise to the Child’s Level (as part of the Night of Culture project organized during the Year of Janusz Korczak).
He is also a musician and lyricist. In this capacity, he is a member of the Polish Authors’ Association ZAiKS. He has written several Polish hit songs, for which he won five Fryderyk awards (the Polish Grammy).
