Scope of research
The Center for the Study of History and Justice focuses on 'transitional justice' and processes of legal, symbolic, and political exclusion, which occur after regime changes. Our research covers areas of constitutional law, human rights, international and national criminal law, judicial behavior, research on political transformation and transitional justice, contemporary history, democratization, and political economy.
Research objectives
Our goal is not only to carry out research, but also to establish an international collaboration network and create a platform enabling a dialogue between academics, political decision makers, and civic society.
Our area of expertise is contemporary history. By analyzing both historical and contemporary cases, we investigate how changes of political systems impact the social and legal structures. We develop a new approach to the issue of justice and law in the context of political regime changes. This makes our research significant not only for the academia, but also for practitioners specializing in human rights and political transformations.
