SWPS University Channel on YouTube has become the most popular and the highest ranked university channel on the video sharing platform, in Poland. It is an indication that SWPS University successfully shares knowledge and learning not only at the University’s campuses, but also online, where the content can be reached by a large audience. In June 2016, the number of views exceeded one million.

YouTube is the largest video sharing platform on the internet with over one billion accounts. It is also the second largest search engine after Google.
Although the majority of content published on YouTube can be classified as entertainment, the platform is also a very useful and popular educational medium.
Many universities around the world are very active on YouTube. In Poland, SWPS University is leading the way in utilizing new tools for knowledge sharing and charting new directions in teaching methodology.

KNOWLEDGE, LEARNING AND MOTIVATION
We analyzed online activity of other universities and, as the result, we have created a few educational and popular science projects. We have decided to further develop the topics and formats, which proved to be the most popular. For example, lectures recorded at our campuses and a series of interviews with the members of our community, i.e. students, lecturers and founders of SWPS University. The interview series has been developed in cooperation with our alumnus, Andrzej Tucholski, currently one of the most influential lifestyle bloggers in Poland.
These projects show and promote our community, the people who contribute to the development of SWPS University. We are glad that we can share knowledge not only here, with the community at our university, but also with anyone who can access the Internet.

We have consciously decided not to produce typical promotional videos about the university. People do not want to watch this type of content. We have chosen to show people who we are and what we do, in our ‘natural habitat’, i.e. the university. We believed that it would be enough. YOUTUBE METRICS
When we launched our YouTube channel eighteen months ago, we had only 400 subscribers and not that many views. However, within the next six months our efforts were noticed by the YT360 viewing data analysis service. The Video Marketing Report, published by Muse analytics, indicated a significant potential of video channels, which could be used for both, educational and student recruitment purposes. University SWPS utilizes this model of communication in the most effective way. Their channel offers lectures, interviews with interesting people, coverage from various festivals, and information about the university itself. Additionally, SWPS University Channel is the most popular among higher education institutions, with the largest number of subscribers, wrote the authors of the report.
Subsequently, Video Marketing Report 2015, published by Muse six months later, summarized the YouTube presence of all Polish companies and organizations. The report indicated that SWPS University was the only higher education institution among the top 100 most effective Polish brands on the video sharing platform. After one year of activity on YouTube, we asked Sotrender, a social media analytics firm, to prepare a comparative analysis of all Polish higher education institutions’ channels on YouTube. The report indicated that SWPS University Channel had become the most popular among all other YouTube channels of higher education institutions in Poland. Additionally, the content presented there enjoyed the largest number of views, i.e. the number of views on the SWPS University channel equaled the total number of views on all other university channels added together. In June 2016, the number of views on the SWPS University YouTube Channel exceeded one million and it continues to rise. Currentlly, we have over 9,000 subscribers, which makes our YouTube channel the most popular university channel in Poland.

SWPS University Channel on YouTube is one of the 50 communication channels that we use on 9 different social media networks to meet the needs of our audiences and to reach them with our messages.
