School of Form Designers Recognized by “Communication Arts” Magazine

We are happy to announce that a visual communication system co-created by a lecturer from SWPS University’s School of Form for the Folia Scandinavica Posnaniensia journal has been awarded the 2021 Award of Excellence by Communication Arts, a leading international, professional design, illustration and advertising magazine. The project has been developed by the Uniforma studio, co-owned by Michał Mierzwa and Maciej Mach, a lecturer at School of Form. A School of Form graduate, Maryan Ivasyk, and a student, Emil Tybura, also contributed to the project.

Five Scandinavian Flags Incorporated in One Symbol

Folia Scandinavica Posnaniensia is a journal published by the Department of Scandinavian Studies at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. The journal focuses on linguistics, literature, history and culture of the Scandinavian countries. For the journal, the Uniforma studio has developed a new logo, a set of covers, and a website.

The new visual identity system has been recognized by a prestigious professional magazine Communication Arts, established in 1959, with the 2021 Award of Excellence. Every year, the magazine organizes creative competitions in six categories, including graphic design, advertising, photography, illustration, typography, and interactive media.

The Uniforma studio is co-owned by Maciej Mach, a lecturer at SWPS University’s School of Form, and by Michał Mierzwa. A School of Form graduate, Maryan Ivasyk, and a student of the Design program, Emil Tybura, also contributed to the project. The designers explain that their goal was to design a new visual identity system, which would combine all five flags of the Scandinavian countries..

The design created by the Uniforma studio will appear in the October issue of Communication Arts, but it is already available for viewing on the magazine’s website.

School of Form - Unique Design School

The philosophy of School of Form revolves around human-centered design that tries to understand people and meet their needs. At School of Form we teach human-centered design. Students not only learn how to design products, but also how to make them in different technologies, and prepare them manufacturing. They also acquire some business skills and learn how to network with business partners. The unique program of study, which combines elements of design and humanities, has been developed by a team of experts lead by Lidewij Edelkoort, former Director of the Design Academy Eindhoven and School of Form’s mentor.
