Rebuilding Organizations After a Global Crisis

In previous years, the Diversity Congress focused on significant issues, such as diversity and inclusion. Nowadays, these topic are even more valid and urgent, because the COVID-19 pandemic has made us realize that we depend on each other, and we are strong as long as we work together. We all have been affected by a long multidimensional crisis and now we need to rebuild and reorganize to move forward. But where to start and how to achieve it? How to rebuild not only disintegrating organizations and teams, but also ourselves?

Perhaps the Japanese art of kintsugi can serve as an inspiration in this case. Kintsugi is a method of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with precious metals, such as gold, silver or platinum. As a philosophy, kintsugi treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise. Because this technique is very labor intensive, only valuable objects are repaired this way. This is exactly what we need nowadays ‒ we need to patiently mend our world, our organizations, and ourselves. A culture of respect, belonging, and cooperation is the precious adhesive that will help us in this process. With these values we will be able to create a lasting legacy.

Main topics of the conference will include:

  • How to stay stable in an unstable reality?
  • Challenges of the future workplace
  • How to respond to employees’ needs during the crisis?
  • Practical Diversity in times of Pandemic
  • Dialogue: How to make room for everyone? Inclusive management in practice
  • The art of mending ‒ leadership not only for the times of crisis
  • Business & worldview ‒ a space for a conflict or a new quality?
