Students and teachers of SWPS University’s School of Form would like to invite art and design enthusiasts to visit its 2021 Graduation Show. The annual Show, which showcases graduation projects of the future communication, domestic, fashion, and industrial designers, is the most important event of every academic year in School of Form. The exhibition is available for viewing at the Warsaw campus of SWPS University from June 30th to July 15th, 2021.
This year, School of Form should be presenting its 7th edition of the Graduation Show. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the previous edition of the exhibition had to be postponed. This year, until the last minute, the organizers were unsure whether the show would get a green light and could be presented to a wider audience. Therefore, in a true School of Form fashion, they came out with another solution to guarantee that students will get a chance to showcase their ideas and hard work. The organizers opted for a different format – a hybrid exhibition that will present photographs of students’ work on the Warsaw campus of SWPS University. The projects were photographed at the historic building of Sinfonia Varsovia, which formerly housed the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW), and which is located in the vicinity of SWPS University’s campus in Warsaw.
Additionally, the organizers have ensured that the students who graduated in 2020, and did not get a chance to showcase their works due to the pandemic, would be included in this year’s Graduation Show. Hence, the unusual numbering of this year’s edition of the Show – ½(6+7). The number indicates that the show will include graduation projects created by 50% (½) of the students from 2020 (the 6th cohort) and 50% of students graduating in 2021 (the 7th cohort). The works presented this year are very diverse and reflect student family histories, considerations for the future of our planet, and ways of improving interpersonal relationships. They also push the boundaries of material science.
Since its inception ten years ago, SWPS University’s Department of Design had a pleasure to see several hundreds of students from Poland, Ukraine, China, Russia, Belarus, Slovakia and Norway graduate and go on to successful careers in the design industry. The common trait of their graduation projects has always been sensitivity, ability to use research tools, and apply research findings to their projects. As the result, the solutions developed by these young designers have been meeting the actual needs of users, and have been responding to social phenomena.
The interdisciplinary Design program offered by School of Form differs from other programs of its kind as it combines design skills with knowledge derived from the disciplines of humanities and social sciences.
