Karol Jachymek, Ph.D., specializes in education, youth culture, generational shift (in particular concerning the Gen Z and Gen Alpha), the (new) new media communication, and pop culture trends. He is a co-initiator, and a lecturer at SWPS University’s School of Ideas, an innovative program focused on designing social and business innovations.
He runs training sessions and workshops for schools, cultural institutions, NGOs, and companies on a variety of topics, such as modern media practices, intergenerational communication (addressed mostly to Gen Z and Gen Alpha), communication in social media (in particular TikTok), distance education, design thinking, and creativity.
His most recent publication Z nosem w smartfonie. Co nasze dzieci robią w internecie i czy na pewno trzeba się tym martwić? (With noses in their smartphones. What do our Children do on the Internet and Should We be Concerned About It?) addresses very pertinent issues of the current youth culture.
During his career, Dr. Jachymek collaborated with numerous institutions, such as Bank Millenium, SAS, the Copernicus Science Centre, the Center for Citizenship Education, the School with Class Foundation, the Mazovia Institute of Culture, the National Centre for Culture, NASK – a National Research Institute whose mission is to develop and implement solutions which facilitate the development of information and communication networks in Poland, the Children’s University Foundation, the National Film Archive – Audiovisual Institute, and Centrum Cyfrowe (Digital Center) – a foundation concerned with the social impact of the digital transformation.
In 2013, he received a Polish Film Institute scholarship.
At SWPS University, he teaches classes about film, pop culture, new media phenomena, and changes occurring in social and cultural norms over time.
