Małgorzata Wójcik, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor and Vice-Dean for Student Affairs at SWPS University's Faculty of Psychology in Katowice. She is a psychologist researching peer group relations and prevention of bullying in schools. In her early career, she was a teacher of English at the junior-high and high school levels. While working at different schools, she came across the issue of bullying in the classroom, which motivated her to get to the root of the problem and find a solution to this common phenomenon. Based on her research results, together with her team, she has developed, participatory projects for students, and tools that help children, youth, parents and teachers identify incidents of peer violence, provide support to victims and the whole affected community, and prevent future occurrences of violent behavior, through educational initiatives and creation of non-violent climate in schools.
Psychologist Kurt Lewin, a pioneer of applied social psychology, said that “research which produces nothing but books will not suffice”. So I write my books, and I write my articles, but they are a byproduct, I would say. The most important thing is to use the research results to produce an effective anti-bullying program.

Projects preventing bullying in schools, such as Bliżej (Closer), INKLA, and RESQL
Research carried out by Małgorzata Wójcik, Ph.D. and her team resulted in the development of practical tools for teachers, parents and students and helped to reduce the occurance of bullying incidents in schools. The important element of the projects, such as Bliżej (Closer) and INKLA was the participation of students, who were tasked with carrying out field research concerning peer relationships in their schools. These projects provided ample data for the development of RESQL, an innovative system and mobile application for the prevention of bullying in schools, developed by a team of researchers from SWPS University.
