HumanTech Meetings: Cybersecurity - Building Resilience to Digital Viruses & Other Online Threats

HumanTech Meetings: Cybersecurity - Building Resilience to Digital Viruses & Other Online Threats

The difficult time of the coronavirus pandemic has made us turn to the virtual world. The rapid technological development, despite its benefits, also carries newer and newer threats for internet users. Will we be able to strengthen cyber security measures in time to effectively protect ourselves in the new reality of a common cyber space?

We will talk about these and other cyber security issues with Sir Julian King (former EU Commissioner for the Security Union and currently working at the Oxford University Institute), and Jakub Boratyński (Director of the Directorate H for Digital Society, Trust and Cybersecurity, the European Commission), and invited panelists.

The meeting will be hosted by Michał Boni, Ph.D., former Minister of Administration and Digitization.

The meeting will be part of the "innoSHARE UNIversity2020 Conference". Lanuages of the event: Polish and English (with translation).

HumanTech Meetings

We live in an era of innovation, technological progress and digitalization. This current innovation drive may lead to unpredictable psychological and social outcomes. Therefore, it is crucial to establish collaborations between engineers, programmers, IT specialists and social scientists during initial phases of any new projects related to development of new technologies or services. Such collaborations may help to avoid mistakes and can support better development of new ideas.

The project is planned as a series of meetings, gathering academics and professionals from the technology sector from Poland and other countries. Each meeting will include two lectures, one delivered by a speaker from Poland and one presented by a guest from another country. The lectures will be followed by panel discussions, where panelists will represent different approaches to innovation and technology.

HumanTech Meetings is a project of SWPS University's Center for Innovation. More information »

The digital acceleration, clearly visible during the pandemic, has opened new opportunities for businesses, new ways of working, for consumers and shopping, for everyday life, education, and for modernization of healthcare. However this situation has also brought threats related to cyber security. Our conference will help to identify these threats and search for answers and new solutions. From the global point of view, it is crucial that appropriate cyber security standards are followed by all countries. From the European point of view, it is important to align effective laws with the new challenges. From the national point of view, it is critical to know how to manage risk and react to potential threats by limiting the threats. It is going to be a fascinating debate...!
