Professor Bogdan Wojciszke is an eminent psychologist who specialies in social and personality psychology, in particular psychology of love and power.
He is interested in moral judgements, including the impact of communal factors (such as morality and social norms) and individual agency (such as effectiveness, competencies and goal orientation) on moral judgements. He also researchers behaviors and emotions of people in close relationships. His other interest is the psychology of power. He researches how power and improved social status impact human behavior. He also studies the attitudes of Poles towards privatization, productivity and dignity as ethical values of the contemporary Polish society.
Professor Wojciszke held numerous research fellowships at the University of Aberdeen, the Max Planck Institute in Berlin, and Nuffield College, Oxford, and Alexander-von-Humboldt Research Fellow at University of Erlangen, Germany. He was also a Visiting Professor at the University of Michigan in the USA and the University of Halle in Germany.
Recipient of many research grants from the Ministry of National Education and the Polish Academy of Sciences. Awarded Knight’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta. Recipient of the 2016 Foundation for Polish Science Prize (the so-called Polish Nobel Prize) for developing a model of agency and communion as basic dimensions of social cognition.
Author of popular books, including: Alfabet miłości (The Alphabet of Love) (2015), Kobieta zmienną jest (The Fickle Nature of Women) (2012), Psychologia społeczna (Social Psychology) (2011), Człowiek wśród ludzi: zarys psychologii społecznej (Person Among People: Outline of Social Psychology) (2002), Psychologia miłości: intymność, namiętność, zaangażowanie (Psychology of Love: Intimacy, Passion, Engagement) (1994), Procesy oceniania ludzi (Interpersonal Evaluation Processes) (1991), as well as numerous publications in highly regarded academic journals, such as Studia Psychologiczne, Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, and European Journal of Social Psychology.
At SWPS University in Sopot, he teaches social psychology and social psychology of morality.
